We are trying out three fields in our first planting season: Field 1 for perennials, Field 2 for vegetables, and Field 3 for grains. We are adopting a no-till approach, which involves a lot of manual labor with broadforking to turn the soil.
Laramie, Wyoming has a very short growing season—approximately 90 days—so our planting schedule for the field has limited flexibility. We have some cold weather coming tomorrow, so we are waiting to transplant our seedlings for a few days. Farming is truly a collaborative effort, and we are fortunate to have many enthusiastic and hardworking individuals eager to join this venture! This past weekend marked our second weekend of preparing the field for planting, and we are excited to get planting soon.
